Queney centre Feasibility Study: The objective of this project was to determine the feasibility of upgrading/redeveloping the business centre. The project included conducting surveys, developing a database and determining retail demand with the study area for specialised retail goods.

Montana Value Mart. Determined the feasibility of developing a Value Mart in the Montana area in Pretoria and use to the unique market characteristics novel techniques were applied to identify the market potential.

Laudium Central Business District Feasibility Study: The objective of this project was to determine the feasibility of upgrading/redeveloping the central business district in Laudium. The project included conducting surveys, developing a database and determining retail demand with the CBD.

East Rand Retail Strategy: The purpose of this study was to formulate a strategy for the future retail development on the East Rand. A computer model was developed to simulate the demand growth on the East Rand. Alternative scenarios were developed and the optimal scenario proved to be a balanced hierarchical growth strategy.

Kudube Shopping Centre: The market potential and economic feasibility of expanding and existing shopping centre in Kudube, were investigated in this study. Socio-economic and retail demand surveys were conducted in the area to determine the market areas, income and expenditure patterns and demand preferences.

Marabastad Fresh Produce Market: Urban-Econ was appointed to determine the viability of the Marabastad Retail Market with a view to either upgrade the market or to relocate it. The ultimately goal was to promote and enhance the marketing of fresh produce in the previously disadvantaged area of Marabastad. The project results provided practical guidelines for the implementation and management of the project which implied that relevant information be generated, to be utilised for the preparation of a Business Plan that will enable decision-makers to use it as a marketing tool to motivate capital investment for the market.

South African Broadcasting Industry: Economic Modeling: Urban-Econ was appointed by the Department of Communication to identify and analyse several key policy options within the broadcasting industry in respect of the determination of the preferred pace of licensing, the maximum contribution of the industry to meet national policy objectives and the optimisation of the commercial value broadcasting assets. The project entailed, inter alia, the compilation of an economic model on the industry and the impact of several scenarios on the model

Internet Broadcasting: Urban-Econ formed pat of a consortium appointed to develop a discussion document on Internet Broadcasting, for the purpose of establishing a policy framework for this industry in South Africa. This project entails the identification of technical alternatives for the implementation of Internet Broadcasting, determining the backward and forward economic linkages, the assessment of the market demand, as well as the development of a simulation model

Thabazimbi/Northam Study: Urban-Econ undertook a major exercise to identify which industries would have the highest comparative advantages of locating in the Eastern Transvaal. Determined the potential of industrial development consequent upon major mining developments in the Thabazimbi/Northam region, Northern Transvaal.
